Fast Comics: Emma Goldman, Ibrahim the Mad, Ivan Pavlov, John Paul Jones
So after making comics with no jokes, I wanted to make comics with some jokes! And hey, my RSS feed works now! It was broken for a long time but Ryan fixed it. Here is something I should do more often: I would like to direct you to some art and comics and people that I like, maybe you will like them too! Here we go! Carly Monardo is a super talented lady. Her work is always colourful and lovely! If you are not familiar, scroll through her site here and you may find that you've come across her before. She is doing a limited number of commissions right now, so get in there while you can! Carly made me cookies when we were in New York, that is what I would like to commission. I watched Chip Zdarsky draw beside me during Free Comic Book Day and figured I may as well pack it in after that. The thing is, he's very good. Chip gave me some advice about making comics for newspapers but it was just repeating the words 'cyan' and 'magenta' over and over and now I am bound to fail. Chip also has a journal! It's full of Scott Pilgrim rip offs. I had the pleasure of meeting Adam Cadwell when I was in London, and what a nice fellow he is. I could stare at a nice, sharp, black and white comic all day, and that is one of the reasons I like this autobio comic so much. There is more going on here and here, so check it out. When I went to Chestertown, Maryland earlier this year, one of the highlights was definitely getting acquainted with Matthew Swanson and Robbi Behr, and their work, Idiots' Books. Mathhew's writing is smart and funny and I really, really adore Robbi's illustration. I was thrilled to see them again at MoCCA! |
