Back when politicians were interesting, Canada had the most interesting ones! When this country started getting TV sets for the first time and were able to see their leaders, what they got on the screen was the jowly, crazy-eyed face of John G. Diefenbaker.
My favorite quote about Dief, I found in the book Right Honourable Men by Michael Bliss: "Sean O'Sullivan quoted approvingly in his memoirs a friend who said of the old chieftain [...] 'John Diefenbaker is a madman who thinks he's John Diefenbaker.'"
